A great day at Annenberg Petspace!

Lili Chin

For those who don't know, Wallis Annenberg Petspace is an impressive and large animal shelter located in Playa Vista that is also an educational event space frequented by school children, animal lovers and welfare professionals. If you are in LA, I recommend visiting!

Although I have been working as a freelance illustrator for Petspace for years and years, yesterday was only the 2nd time I had visited the space. It was such a treat to see my illustrations on animal body language flyers, signage, and in educational video games about different species.

But the main reason I was there was for their DOGust birthday celebration (free adoptions!) and their monthly Paws and Pages book club, featuring my new book, Dogs of the World.

I chatted with arts journalist Lauren Smart about Doggie Language book and presented a slideshow on how Dogs of the World came about, with interesting factoids about dog breeds, and behind the scenes details. This was followed by a Q&A, book signing, and free shaved ice. :)

It was an amazing experience - this also being my first ever time doing any sort of public speaking or live book event. I was nervous at first but everyone was so warm and welcoming.

Thank you so much to Petspace for having me and thank you to everyone who attended and bought my book!
