The game of mahjong is having a renaissance around the world. I have played more mahjong in 2025 than I have in the past 10 years! In 2016, I drew Dogs Playing Mahjong but that illustration showed a "chicken hand" because I didn't understand scoring back then.
This new print features kitties playing HK style mahjong and the winning hand scores better! :) 自摸 means "Self-pick". If the last tile of the winning hand is drawn from the wall instead of from a discarded tile, this is an extra point!
