Thank you to my friend, Amy Wagner (artists' advocate, blogger) for helping me write this infographic. The drawings are of my cats, Mambo and Shimmy, and a hand-drawn response to those creepy AI-generated "action figure starter packs" that keep showing up in my social media feeds.
We understand that AI is useful and convenient for things like summarizing zoom meetings, and analyzing and translating data. To quote Amy, whose insulin pump runs on AI algorithms: "People need to start paying attention to what AI is, when it's being used, when it's a "tool" and when its treacherous."
Generative AI - the kind of AI like ChatGPT and DALL-E that uses your word prompts to create images, writing, and silly memes is not as benign and efficient as you may think.
